Editor's Review:

WeBidz offers a relatively large range of store options, with all the most basic auctioning foundations in place. It’s potentially a simple system but is overcomplicated by the site’s erratic design and ambiguous pricing. With a few forum pages and the ability to choose from a range of store options, WeBidz has potential. However, it’s not the most user-friendly auction site around.

There are a decent, but not exceptional, number of categories within which to place your items, including no-reserves, arts, collectibles, DVDs and more.

The biggest issue with We Bidz is its lack of specific pricing before registration. As you’ll see, they simply state that listing an item for sale can cost between 1 cent and 10 million dollars. Helpful right? Er, no. Come on webidz.com, you can do better! Well, let’s assume fees are closer to 1c than 10 million dollars, what can you expect for your money?

There are plenty of store types though this really only seems to vary the number of goods you can list. That said, highlighting your sales or promoting them on the homepage is very cheap and offers good value for money. For example, the FFL (Federal Firearms Licence) store offers you the ability to sell up to 500,000 items for a flat fee of $99.95.

The site’s “ending soon” section is useful in getting a few last minute bids on items, and offers an opportunity to jump in and steal a sale if you’re in the market for buying. There are also forums to explore, giving you an opportunity to ask questions or talk with other traders.

As a seller, it’s also interesting to see which auctions have ended recently so you can time yours at a different time, or to take a look at popular items to tailor your store to suit the marketplace. When listing an item you can include an image, a little information and shipping details. The pages aren’t very attractive though and this basic design won’t really help you to make an impact.

If you’re looking for no-frills auctioning, WeBidz could be for you. However, the site isn’t very well designed and its prices are too much of a mystery to entice us in. Registering is free, and some fees seem very low, so it might be worth a shot, but we think that most people would generally prefer to buy and sell elsewhere.
