Sam's Club Auctions only sells new items, so you won’t find much in the way of art pieces or unique items, however, you will find that you can get a great bargain on a wide range of new items, ranging from electrical goods to groceries. Sam’s Club isn’t great for selling items but it offers a lot to potential buyers, including a low starting price on all auctions (just $1) and no bidding fees.
There are a few things that set Sam’s Club apart from its competitors. If you look at the rest of our online auction website reviews you’ll find a number of websites which offer a similar service to this, whereby you bid on new items. However, Sam's Club has a couple of extras which make it a superior choice in our opinion.
Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, you don’t need to pay anything to make a bid. This is unusual for “new item” bid sites as usually you have to pay a small fee to bid on an item. This offers much better value for money, as you essentially get what you pay for and won’t end up losing money from failed bids. Theoretically this should mean that more people visit the site and therefore more bids are placed on items, pushing up the price. Whilst this could be true, in the auctions we looked at, the prices still seemed to offer very good discounts on recommended retail prices, so you should save money without the risk.
Lack of risk is something else which gives Sam's Club a few more points. You can return items within 30 days of receiving them. You also receive a manufacturer’s warranty (assuming the manufacturer offers one), providing peace of mind if an item should falter. Purchasing is done securely and you have several options to pay. As well as this, the site also offers a “Club Pick Up” service, whereby you can arrange to have your purchases delivered to a depot and then pick them up when you’re ready. This is great if you are often at work when the mail arrives.
SamsClub.com isn’t going to be a useful site for everyone. If you’re looking to sell the occasional item, you can’t do so, although manufacturers and wholesalers might be able to sell excess goods if they contact the sales team. If you’re in the mood for a piece of hand crafted art, second hand goods or very unique items then you’d do better looking elsewhere.
Although Sam's Club only sells new products, it does offer a grocery service which is something of a rarity, offering some great looking food at a discounted rate. So stock up! With a few extras like this, Sam's Club sets itself apart from similar competition.
