I have been using Listia for a couple of years now. I feel its safe to say that I was there in the beginning. I have won over 60+ auctions! I am a normal 32 year old mom who doesn't have tons of free time or money, so I like a deal when I can catch one.
I found Listia through Facebook because I overheard someone at my daughters school talking about it. I tried it out, earned some credits by doing free offers, and bid on some things. I learned very quickly how the bidding process worked. It is best to "watch" the item you are interested in and then bid on it close to the auctions end. That way you won't have your credits tied up for 5 days only to lose in the last 30 minutes.
One of the problems that I have, and have never been able to get fixed, is that I am supposed to be alerted on my phone when an auction I am watching is about to end. However, for some reason in the past probably 3 years this feature has just quit working for me. I have contacted customer support only to be told that there is pretty much nothing they can do to help me?! That irks me, but the positives definitely outweigh that negative.
Also, when I first started the credit vs. dollar amount was leaning more towards the expensive side, but now I believe 8,000+ credits = $1!!! That is crazy to me. I thought my measly 16,000+ credits was a jackpot (I left it alone for about a year) only to come back and find out that's not the case.
There are always opportunities to earn extra credits and of course there are tons of paid and free offers. They have a referral program (https://www.listia.com/signup/1736847) as well.
I have found that I can get makeup and arts and crafts items here for a great price. Try to always bid on items that have a known seller and check their ratings. Don't spend a ton of credits on an Ipad if it is a new seller. They allow you to dispute transactions, but who wants a million credits tied up for a month.
